Updated: Jun 28, 2022

UJCC Sunday House Worship Service

March 28, 2021 * Palm Sunday

The Peace of Christ be with you! You are invited to use the following prayers & order of worship as we lift our hearts to God together from our respective homes!

Call To Worship

We come to prepare for the holiest of weeks. We will journey through praise, with joy on our lips; we will travel through betrayal and death, cradling hope deep in our hearts Jesus leads us through this week, and we will follow, for he is the life we long for, he is the Word who sustains us. We wave palm branches in anticipation, we lay our love before him, to cushion his walk Setting aside all power, glory, and might, he comes: modeling humility and obedience for all of us. Hosanna! Hosanna! Blessed is the One who brings us the kingdom of God. (ts)

Time of Confession

Surely.

I would never betray you, never deny you.

Surely?

Beloved,

give me the faith to doubt

my righteousness.

Give me the assurance to question,

to examine myself honestly,

to ask.

Give me the confidence to wonder

how I might betray your perfect love,

to see.

Give me grace to confess

how my promises are broken, my heart

broken.

Give me the peace to be troubled

by my smugness,

and repent.

(time of silent prayer and confession)

Words of Assurance

Open my eyes to see that you see,

you know, and knowing, you keep right on

eating with me.

In the name of Jesus Christ, you forgive us.

Thanks be to God. (sgh)

Psalm 131 (The Message Translation)

God, I’m not trying to rule the roost, I don’t want to be king of the mountain. I haven’t meddled where I have no business or fantasized grandiose plans.

2 I’ve kept my feet on the ground, I’ve cultivated a quiet heart. Like a baby content in its mother’s arms, my soul is a baby content.

3 Wait, Israel, for God. Wait with hope. Hope now; hope always!
