Thousands of Cranes
Updated: Jun 15, 2022
Members of all ages of our UJCC family have folded their prayers for peace and comfort into cranes that have flown to communities affected by violence: UMC and UCC sister churches in Newtown, CT (blessings of these cranes pictured here); for Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC; and for Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL. 1,001 were sent to each community. Most recently, UJCC folded 2,601 cranes for the 75th Anniversary Commemoration of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at Fresno State. We give thanks for the coordinators of these great expressions of love: Shirley Arve, Irene Ikeda, Day Kusakai, Jo Katayama, and Kaye Migaki.
