Willing Hearts and Hands

Updated: Jun 15, 2022

Over the years, UJCC has been involved in service and missions to our wider community. Lay leadership has included June Sakaguchi, Dr. Ken Kurokawa, Fay Nakaguchi, and currently, Larry Honda. June Sakaguchi was the one who started it all with an outreach ministry program! Her first connection was with Stone Soup; UJCC engaged with them by helping with their summer preschool program for 2 or 3 years. UJCC volunteers helps with math, crafts, music, movement, reading, and snacks. They also adopted Stone Soup families at Christmas and hosted a Christmas Party for them.

This effort has morphed into what is now known as the Community Care Team (or CCT); building relationship is of utmost importance to us. The community groups we are in relationship and partnership are FIRM (Fresno Interdenominational Refugee Ministries), The Good Neighbor Center (at Pinedale), and the Dakota Eco-Garden. This photo is from 2015’s joint Mission Trip with Berkeley Methodist United Church!
